The race for next years Welfare and International Executive Office narrowed yesterday after Ugomma Lauritta Nnamchi and Can Huang both withdrew from the elections; leaving Jade Crossland, Maryna Danny and Matt Young as the three candidates left.
With less than a week left until the campaign begins, the pressure will now be on for the remaining three candidates to consolidate their support, and could lead to a potentially lucrative acquisition of first preference votes. This also comes just before the big debate on Thursday, in which the candidates for all five Executive positions will attempt to woo voters ahead of the election.
Thom French, Executive Officer for Campaigns and Involvement, noted that in the executive election there are often several candidates who drop out, whilst Alex Nutt (Presiding Academic Affairs Exec.) said that he ‘hopes the remaining three candidates will campaign just as hard’.
The Big Debate takes place at 6.30pm on Thursday 23rd of February, in the Rattray Theatre, and will give all students the opportunity to quiz the candidates on their manifestos.

Could you highlight the disgraceful tactics being used against Maryna’s campaign by a few people who have clearly forgotten the phrase ‘fair play’.
